A new studio & a new review

A lot has happened this week.

I came back from a great break in France, then moved to a bigger, brighter studio and finally I discovered a lovely article in the current issue of Monument magazine about my design for Slowpoke Espresso. What else could I wish for ?

Shortlist Australian Interior Design Awards 2012

We are thrilled to hear that Slowpoke Espresso is shortlisted in the Hospitality Design Category for the Australian Interior Design Awards 2012 (AIDA) along the side of major Australian designers such as Woods Bagot, Hassel, Elenberg Fraseror and Hecker Guthrie. Awards announced April 27th.

I finally took the time to scan a 35mm film I had sitting on my desk for quite some time. There’s some shots from the MONA opening night, which I’ve been lucky to work on back in 2008 while being employed by Fender & Katsalidis Architects, the brains behind this amazing museum. Other shots from a MCG footy game + some random stuff too.

Oblica’s mural

A big big one.
UK illustrator Tim Laing and myself were commissioned by Oblica in Fitzroy to come up with a poster artwork to cover the side of their warehouse. We spent the whole day yesterday sticking the 7 meter long pieces in the rain and strong wind. Quite a challenge.

Interior Design for Slowpoke Espresso

Very very excited to introduce Slowpoke Espresso, a new cafe located at 157 Brunswick St in Fitzroy. It’s been a great pleasure working closely with the Slowpoke team to transform the space into what it is now. My job included the interior & graphic design, as well as managing the building process and building the sign for the front window.
Check it out if you are in the area, it happens that the coffee and food are delicious!

Exhibition Design at the Jewish Museum of Australia

So it’s been a long time since I posted here, over 6 months already.
I have been busy moving into a shared artist studio earlier this year and working on loads of new works.

One of them was the designing of an exhibition space for an exhibition called ‘People Smugglers: Friend or Foe? ” held at the Jewish Museum of Australia.
Designing the space, the display and the graphics was really fulfilling. I hope I get to do more of this in the future. Pictures below….
